Hello Sweeties,
It has been a while, I know. I had been busy with my day job as of late and I have not been able to attend any events the past few months. I was so lucky to receive and invitation from the Rizal based foodies to join a foodie meet-up near Marcos Highway. The shop is called Coffee Time Cakes and Pastries.
Coffee Time Cakes and Pasties is a concept store that caters to the clients of their ATMT Car Care company that does professional detailing for cars. It’s a relatively small shop but it is so much more!
If you like what you see on the store cake window click below:
Coffee Time is own and managed by the family of retired French trained Pinay pâtissière , Chef Amelia Carr. Chef Ame has been working as a pastry chef all over the world and has been trained by Pierre Desfontaines, of the French pâtisserie Ladurée, the inventor of the French macaron.
Who knew we had an authentic French cake shop a stone throw away from my home? Mind Blown!
So I was excited to head over to this underrated shop to try out their menu and to taste authentic French pastry. Because the shop is called Coffee Time, it’s but natural to talk about their drinks first.
The Drinks
The Coffee Time drinks range is as usual to the other specialty shops like create frappes, coffee based frappes, classic traditional, flavoured lattes, but somehow there are unique flavours in their menu.
I am fond of peanuts and macha. I was happy they had peanut caramel and macha as part of the drink selection and also the yogurt and red velvet.
The frappe drinks are layered and if you prefer a more incorporated drink, stir it up a bit with your straw.
The Cakes and Pastries
The part I was looking forward to aside from sampling the menu is taking photos of these beautiful creations. A feast for the eyes before the palate is one of the reasons why enjoy attending foodie events.
Tiramisu (160php)
Beautifully Tiramisu made from lady fingers soaked coffee layered with cream and lightly dusted cocoa power where the bitter and sweet flavors bled together perfectly with each bite.
Blueberry Cheese Cake (160php)
Whenever I go to a new cafe or bakery I automatically try their cheese cakes. I think a good gauge for a bakeshop is how well they make their cheese cakes. Chef Ame bakes her cheesecakes and tops it with fresh ingredients.
Sans Rival (164php)
The Sans Rival is delicately creamy not overly sweet with the nice crunchy texture best paired with their traditional coffee or latte.
Choco Salted Caramel Cake (150php)
The Choco Salted Caramel Cake is one of my favorites from Coffee Time, and I am not much of a chocolate cakes lover because I find it so common but this cake is the bomb! I can have 2 slices of this easy and not feel umay or fed up.
Take away snacks
If you have no time to linger at the store, or like me you just need a light snack to go or take home to your beasties, I suggest you take some of the pastries.
Strawberry Shortcake (whole) via special order a day or two before you pick it up (price starts at 1,200php)
One of the best Strawberry Shortcakes I have ever tasted. Worth per ordering because you must preorder it beforehand.
Chef Ame can customize the size or cakes you want.
Cheese Drops (45php)
Perfect for those with a sweet tooth but are allowed only a piece,
After the meet-up, I purchased a box of the delicious french macaron for my beasties to enjoy at home. Chef Ame’s french macarons are larger than the standard sized (1′), so we can enjoy it more.
I enjoyed my time at Coffee Time Cakes and Pastries, I would probably be back again with my beasties. I do wish they would expand the store so patrons can stay longer, an additional floor perhaps? Or widen their client reach by setting up a kiosk at the nearby Ayala Feliz Mall or join the weekend markets also at the malls. They did promise a lot of changes and improvements for the store so this is something to look forward to.
