I always look forward to watching plays and events by PETA, this time they will be hosting a show by the very talented and spoofer Jon Santos.
Jon takes to the PETA Stage with his hilarious and on point impressions of Donald Trump and Digong Duterte and a lot of other very interesting characters. The catch is he will only be performing for a very limited two night run. #TRUMPERTE is written by Jon Santos himself, Enrico Santos and Joel Mercado with the stage direction by Michael Williams.
TRUMPERTE (the mash-up of the show character names) is a special project for Jon because this caps his 30 years in show business. This show only proves than no one can replace him as the top political impersonator and the sharpest comic barometer of society.
TRUMPERTE is special to PETA because it is part of the PETA’s Stage of the Nation, a creative campaign that hopes to utilize the arts and engage artist to contribute to the discourses that concern our country. With the inclusion of TRUMPERTE in the campaign would liven up conversation with the audiences even more, that is the core of wicked and hilarious spoofing.
This original satirical LIVE show is guaranteed to be brave explosive and delightfully entertaining!
I was fortunate enough to catch their preview and here are some of the awesome characters that will appear during the #TRUMPERTE two day run.
Jon himself said at the launch of the Stage of the Nation, “Napaka-encouraging that we all laugh at the same places. There’s hope na alam pa rin natin ang tama at mali. Nakaka-encourage na they [audience] support live comedy as a form of healing. And they dress up, they buy a ticket, and they brave the traffic to bond with other human beings.”
TRUMPERTE is a careful, sophisticated social and political commentary that will make you laugh until you cry but somehow also makes you see what’s going on in the country in a whole different light.
Check out our short but sweet interview with him*
Jon Santos’ TRUMPERTE will have its limited run at the PETA Theater Center on October 26 & 27, 2018 (8PM).
I only caught a short snippet of the #TRUMPERTE but the preview made me want to see the entire show. It is really worth it, so dress up, buy your ticket and catch the show!
Until next time,
