Event: Bene Loves Biscoff a Collaboration of two Great Brands

It was raining pretty hard when I got to Eastwood Walk. A great cup of coffee would be perfect for this wet and cold day. Good thing I was on my way to Caffe Bene for the media launch as two great brands come together. Caffe Bene and Lotus Biscoff.

Caffe Bene is Korea`s largest and fastest growing coffee shop chain with more than 800 stores and counting, the Eastwood Branch is their first store in Manila. The Bene in Caffe Bene means “good or well”, Korean touches accentuated by European feel.

Pinoys are coffee lovers but in a market saturated with foreign brands Caffe Bene tries to distinguish itself with their signature “medium roast” coffee, according to Myke Celis, Caffe Bene`s Marketing Consultant. Caffe Bene coffee unlike their American competitors is light. Unlike the strong bitter taste of dark roast coffee, medium roast coffee is non-bitter therefore you need less additives like sugar. In fact, you can even taste the coffee fruit in their Americano and espressos.

The store interior is Korean “gwiyeoun” or distinctively cute Korean design. It is warm and cozy with bookshelves surrounding the area. You can actually smell the aroma of coffee and waffles wafting from their kitchen. The tables and chairs are comfy, the area more spacious than the typical coffee shop.

Even before books cafes became popular Caffe Bene has offered books for their clients to browse and read while they enjoy their drink or snack.

Recently Spot.ph named Caffe Bene as one of the Top 10 Cafes in Manila That are Perfect for Book Lovers.

Zomatoph sent me an invitation to attend this media launch, although it is not my first time at Caffe Bene, this is my first event with them and Lotus Biscoff.

Delicious sample plate of Banna Chocolate, Blueberry, Strawberry and Sugar Waffles

During the event we got to sample their best selling Liege Waffles, a Belgian-type waffle that is richer, sweeter, more dense and chewier than the usual light and fluffy waffle. They use pearl sugar which caramelizes on the outside, and when baked adds to the flavor and texture of Caffe Bene’s Liege Waffles. Each Liege Waffle is made fresh upon ordering, so you have to wait, but believe me the wait is worth it because no waffle is pre-made and stocked, so you get your waffles fresh off the waffle iron. Blueberry will always be my all time favorite flavor.

My Biscoff Gelato creation a cup is never enough!
