It was raining pretty hard when I got to Eastwood Walk. A great cup of coffee would be perfect for this wet and cold day. Good thing I was on my way to Caffe Bene for the media launch as two great brands come together. Caffe Bene and Lotus Biscoff.
Caffe Bene is Korea`s largest and fastest growing coffee shop chain with more than 800 stores and counting, the Eastwood Branch is their first store in Manila. The Bene in Caffe Bene means “good or well”, Korean touches accentuated by European feel.
Pinoys are coffee lovers but in a market saturated with foreign brands Caffe Bene tries to distinguish itself with their signature “medium roast” coffee, according to Myke Celis, Caffe Bene`s Marketing Consultant. Caffe Bene coffee unlike their American competitors is light. Unlike the strong bitter taste of dark roast coffee, medium roast coffee is non-bitter therefore you need less additives like sugar. In fact, you can even taste the coffee fruit in their Americano and espressos.
Recently Spot.ph named Caffe Bene as one of the Top 10 Cafes in Manila That are Perfect for Book Lovers.
Lotus Biscoff, a simple biscuit with a unique caramelized flavor, is the perfect accompaniment to every cup of coffee. This makes Biscoff and Caffe Bene the perfect pair!
The unique taste of Lotus Biscoff comes from the sugar’s caramelization during the baking process. And a hint of cinnamon and other spices add that special something. The unique recipe, which uses only the highest-quality ingredients, remains the same more than eight decades later since it was first baked in 1932 at a small town called Lembeke in Belgium.
The founders of Lotus Bakeries, the Boone brothers, would drive around town in their trademark red truck to deliver their prized biscuits door to door. Then in the 1950s, Lotus introduced the pairing of Lotus Biscoff with a fresh cup of coffee. This soon became part of the everyday Belgian routine in hotels, restaurants, and coffee shops throughout the country. The perfect pairing of Lotus Biscoff with a fresh cup of coffee spreads to neighboring countries. Cafés throughout Europe starts serving fresh coffee with biscuits, and Lotus Biscoff becomes “Europe’s Favorite Cookie with Coffee.”
These European biscuits first made their way to America as in-flight treats. Starting in the 1980s, Lotus Biscoff treats have been paired with mid-air morning coffee in flights throughout the United States. Frequent fliers took note of the unique taste and special magic of Lotus Biscoff and coffee, and today’s passengers still continue to discover Lotus Biscoff in several international airlines. With millions of Lotus Biscoff sampled annually in-flight, it comes as no surprise that Lotus Biscoff is also known as “The Airline Cookie.”
Delectably crunchy, with a caramelized flavor, Lotus Biscoff is made with:
No artificial color or preservatives
0 grams trans-fat per serving and 0 cholesterol
Non-GMO ingredients
No nuts
No animal by-products

During the event we got to sample their best selling Liege Waffles, a Belgian-type waffle that is richer, sweeter, more dense and chewier than the usual light and fluffy waffle. They use pearl sugar which caramelizes on the outside, and when baked adds to the flavor and texture of Caffe Bene’s Liege Waffles. Each Liege Waffle is made fresh upon ordering, so you have to wait, but believe me the wait is worth it because no waffle is pre-made and stocked, so you get your waffles fresh off the waffle iron. Blueberry will always be my all time favorite flavor.
Bloggers were asked to create our own Biscoff Gelato! You can tell that this is no challenge for me since I have a terrible sweet tooth and I cannot stop myself from ordering the Caffe Bene Gelato of the month whenever I am at Caffe Bene. Check out my creation above.
