Published by : Adarna House Title: Handa Ako! Author: Liwliwa Malabed Illustrated: Mia Lagos

Young children are so independent these days I am amazed at what they could actually do at a young age, more so if they are well informed and armed with knowledge on how to keep themselves and their families safe from harm.

Hands Ako!  Written by Liwliwa Malabed and Illustrated by Mia Lagos, is actually a small booklet that talks about natural calamities like Typhoons, Earthquake and Volcanic eruptions and how to prepare for such occurrences, should the need arise. It also contains a chapter about first aid, what to do in case of fire and who to call in case of emergencies.

Table of Contents

The booklet cost only 120php, but it is packed with extensive information.  Written in Filipino but very easy to understand.

These are some of the sample pages from the booklet Handa Ako!

Activity page for the kids and parents to recap what they have learned, Page that features explanation on Earthquakes

Emergency numbers and the closest offices of the Police, Fire Department, Hospital, Barangay Hall or Guardians you can actually personalize the booklet to fit your needs

Basic first aid even a young child can learn and do

Reminders for Parents and Teachers

Listing of essential contents in your Emergency Disaster Kits

Along with this Handa Ako! booklet, I would also like to suggest that you prepare an Emergency Disaster Kit (some of the basic needs you can put in the Emergency Kit are listed in the Handa Ako! booklet, one for each member of your family.  It may not seem like it now but it is best to be prepared than regret it later on.

Emergency Disaster Kit from H2O Technologies

The booklet is clearly written and simple to understand. I know my son Jarod enjoyed our talks about Disaster preparedness because of the wonderful and colorful illustrations and cute in the booklet.

I found this book very informative and it cleared up a lot of things for me; I know small children, children with special needs and Mommies will benefit a lot and it is a great addition to your Family`s Library.
